The kurta is a quintessential part of the Indian wardrobe. I haven’t come across an Indian woman who doesn’t own one. And today with it being available in so many different styles, prints, colours, and what not, I wanted to move a little out of my comfort zone and try and style a kurta in some not-so-conventional ways.
Do know that I am not the first person to do so and I won’t be the last. But I like experimenting with my clothes and taking risks. So here’s a little glimpse of the different ways in which I styled the same Kurta.
I also put up a timelapse video of this on Instagram recently (sorry for the quality issues, I had some trouble transferring the files from my comp to my phone). You can have a look at the high res photographs of all of the outfits below!
Style 1: The demure dress
I just cinched in the waist with a belt, added a pair of wedges, some earrings and a sling bag. It turned into a pretty dress instantly. And I just love how the look turned out. To style a kurta as a dress you basically just need the right accessories.
Style 2: The rocker chic
This is my personal favourite. Putting on a cropped denim jacket over the kurta, along with boots, hoop earrings, and tinted glasses. You can use any sort of bulky jacket and heeled boots would look nice too.
Style 3: The traditional woman
This is for all the ladies who love a traditional look. Now anarkalis are usually paired with churidars, so I wanted to do it a little differently. I went for white, embroidered palazzos and a white dupatta, and accessorised with an antique silver necklace and bangles.
Is there a unique way in which you like to style your Kurta? Let me know, maybe I can get some ideas!
That’s all for today ladies!
Until next time,
